ScrewFast Foundations were contracted by Galliford Try Communications to design and install foundations for a Telecommunications Tower at East Tilbury. The challenge we were faced with, was a site which contained very loose and collapsing soils, as well as unstable ground at ground level. This resulted in a change of proposed foundation solution at very short notice. Thanks to our great design capabilities, responsive team and adaptable range of solutions, ScrewFast Foundation were able to overcome all issues on site, deliver a redesign, and install all within the construction window.
Our initial solution was to drive casing, auger and clean, then pour concrete and install cages. However once on site, the piling platform was not stable enough for a Klemm rig so we opted to close ends, drive with Movax and back drive with BSP DXRT25 hammer, then pour concrete and install rebar cage. Once the foundations were complete, we then landed our patented steel connection grillage for direct connection to the Telecoms Tower base plate.
