- 80 Galvanised Posts to 8m installed within 4 days @ 1.5m spacings. 6.5m post embedment, 1.5m of post AGL.
- 3 men
- 1.5m wide @ 1m high Concrete panels slotted in between the posts in a couple of days
- Movax used to install the piles, so simply side grab and install to a point, then top driven for the final metre
- Telehandler used to install the panels but could have used the excavator for the Movax with a grab attachment
ScrewFast were approached by Mitsubishi Electric to install a 130m retaining wall around the live, high voltage Chilling 400kv Substation in Southampton. Our exceptionally high standards of security and safety was of added significance on this project.
The wall was comprised of 89 Galvanised Posts to 8m installed within 4 days, at 1.5m spacings. The posts were drive to 6.5m, with 1.5m remaining above ground level.
ScrewFast’s own Movax was used to install the piles, so the posts were simply side grabbed and installed to a point, then top driven for the final metre.
Thanks to our innovative team of designers and project managers, the project required only 3 men to complete the whole installation. Each working 10 shifts of 8 hours.
1.5m wide by 1m high concrete panels were then slotted in between the posts in the final couple of days to complete the retaining walls. A Telehandler was used to install the panels but alternatively we could have used the excavator for the Movax with a grab attachment
As with many of ScrewFast Foundations’ solutions, the foundation system only produced general spoil and waste was minimised, with no requirement for skip removal. Spoil was spread locally and any waste was simply bagged and removed from site by the teams involved.
